Be going to + base verb – grammar

1. Form

Le futur avec “be going to” se forme avec be (au présent) + going to + base verb (infinitif sans “to”).

Affirmative

Plan ou intention déjà décidée avant le moment de parole

We’re going to visit Italy this summer.
She’s going to study medicine.

Prédiction fondée sur ce qu’on voit / sait maintenant

Look at those clouds – it’s going to rain.
He’s going to fall!

4. Time markers

  • Comme be change selon le sujet, attention aux accords :
    • I am, you are, he is, etc.
  • Il est fréquent de contracter :
    • I’m going to, he’s going to, we’re going to
  • Le verbe principal reste toujours à la forme de base :
    • She is going to study
    • She is going to studies / to studied
